Phantoms try to defend division crown, Black Rock FC looks to make first-year impact

Led by the defending champion Seacoast United Phantoms, the Northeast Division features seven teams in 2018, including one new to the Premier Development League.

Rolling to an 11-1-2 record, the Phantoms captured their second Northeast Division crown in 2017. The Phantoms can claim a long list of illustrious alumni, which includes Atlanta United FC midfielder Jeff Larentowicz and D.C. United and Richmond Kickers goalkeeper Travis Worra.

The second-place finishers Long Island Rough Riders depart the division this season, returning to the Mid Atlantic Division in 2018, but are replaced by a new PDL member club in Black Rock FC.

Third-place finishers Western Mass Pioneers and fourth-place FC Boston also return to the Northeast Division, hoping to supplant the Phantoms atop the division.
