Ben Fitzpatrick, who helped the Michigan Bucks clinch the 2016 PDL Championship in August, has signed a one-year deal – pending United Soccer League and U.S. Soccer Federation approval – with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds ahead of the 2017 regular season.

“I was able to catch Ben at multiple combines over the past couple months, and on each occasion, I thought he was really good, one of the top guys there,” Riverhounds Head Coach Dave Brandt said. “I think he’s an under-the-radar, smart player that we like a lot with an ability to attack with good speed and good pace.”

The 22-year-old scored nine goals and provided three assists in 14 appearances during the 2016 PDL regular season. He then scored a goal against the Thunder Bay Chill in the PDL Playoffs.

During the 2015 PDL regular season, Fitzpatrick scored two goals and provided one assist in 11 matches.

Fitzpatrick played for Urbana University before transferring to Ohio State University for his senior season. The speedy attacker netted 15 goals and recorded 11 assists throughout his collegiate career, scoring two goals and providing four assists for the Buckeyes in 2016.
