Summary |
1 | ![]() Long Island Rough Riders |
![]() Last Week: 12 |
4-0-0 Week 6: vs. Cedar Stars Rush |
Unquestionably the hottest team in the league right now. They’re averaging 4.25 goals a match and allowing .75 goals against them. They had the leading goal scorer and leading assist man in May. They steamrolled a solid Hudson Valley Hammers side 5-0, and lit up Cedar Stars Rush to the tune of four goals in a 4-2 win. Both of those wins are their opponents’ largest losses of the young season. |
2 | ![]() Seacoast United Phantoms |
![]() Last Week: 19 |
4-0-0 Week 6: @ Black Rock FC vs. Blackwatch Rush |
Our other 4-0-0 team, Seacoast United Phantoms haven’t been quite as explosive in attack as Long Island Rough Riders, but their wins have every bit the quality of our first-place team. 4-0 against Western Mass Pioneers was a tone-setter. Doing the double over Vermont Green FC and taking all six points from their season series is a declaration. Seacoast United Phantoms own the Northeast Division, and they’ll have to have it taken. |
3 | ![]() Asheville City SC |
![]() Last Week: 4 |
4-0-1 Week 6: vs. South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 vs. East Atlanta FC |
If not for a last-second corner kick that sneaked into the near post from South Georgia Tormenta FC 2, we’d be talking about a 5-0-0 Asheville City team. But it did, and they’re not, and they are still one of the best teams around. They’ve scored their last eight goals unanswered, including a 6-0 beatdown away at Peachtree City MOBA on Saturday. Their win away at One Knoxville to start the season is the difference in the division right now – they’ll try to repeat the feat in two weeks at home. |
4 | ![]() North Carolina Fusion U23 |
![]() Last Week: 1 |
4-0-1 Week 6: vs. Wake FC @ Charlotte Independence |
The Fusion finally blinked. Joao Gomeiro’s been as good as advertised to start the season, being named to the League Two Team of the Month for May. However, a draw against 1-4-2 North Carolina FC U-23 provides a bit of a disappointment, as Fusion led in that match for 69 minutes of the 90. They’re still the gold standard – but they are mortal. They’ll get the chance to get another multiple-game winning streak going Tuesday against Wake FC. |
5 | ![]() Des Moines Menace |
![]() Last Week: 2 |
4-0-1 Week 6: vs. Minneapolis City SC |
The Menace, too, are mortal. Still averaging more than a point per match over second-place Peoria City, Des Moines is in little danger of losing their top spot in the Deep North division, five points clear of second place. A scoreless draw with winless Manitoba, having crossed the border last week, does make their Canadian trip a bit sour. The Menace shouldn’t hang their heads though – they’re still doing incredibly well. | 6 | ![]() Flint City Bucks |
![]() Last Week: 8 |
4-0-2 Week 6: vs. Oakland County FC |
Flint City’s only dropped points this year have been a draw with another Top 10 side in Kalamazoo FC. That’s also the only match in which they’ve conceded a goal. They’ve started extremely strong and are on the hunt for yet another League Two title. The next five matches will make or break their season and decide which group of teams their club belongs in – they’re playing away at AFC Ann Arbor twice, and away at Kalamazoo on June 22. |
7 | ![]() Kalamazoo FC |
![]() Last Week: 3 |
4-0-2 Week 6: @ Lansing City Football @ Midwest United FC |
Cyrus Harmon’s heroics gave Kalamazoo the win in a critical match at AFC Ann Arbor, and the club seemed to be rolling along just fine. A draw against the always-great Flint City Bucks provided little concern, but a draw against 1-3-1 Oakland County FC puts a bit of a hamper on their start. They were trailing late into the match with Oakland County, and Matt Whelan finished his brace in the 78th minute to preserve the point. |
8 | ![]() Lionsbridge FC |
![]() Last Week: 24 |
4-0-1 Week 6: vs. Patuxent Football Atheltics @ Patuxent Football Atheltics |
We flipped Lionsbridge FC and Christos FC around at least three times while making this list. In the end, we favored Lionsbridge FC’s consistent defensive performances, allowing more than one goal only once – to Christos FC in a 3-3 draw. This battle for the Chesapeake division is going to be as intense as it is entertaining. |
9 | ![]() Christos FC |
![]() Last Week: 14 |
4-0-1 Week 6: vs. Northern Virginia FC vs. Virginia Beach United |
Christos’ biggest claims to the top spot have been the elite play of Ben Sitiz (5 goals, 5 assists in 5 matches) and the 7-0 beating they delivered to Commonwealth Cardinals FC on Wednesday. They’ll have two consecutive matches with Lionsbridge FC in Weeks 8 and 9, and they’re setting up to decide the fate of the division. |
10 | ![]() West Virginia United |
![]() Last Week: 6 |
4-0-1 Week 6: @ Charlotte Independence vs. Wake FC |
While they’re no longer putting up six goals per match, like they were during the last edition of these power rankings, West Virginia United is still doing some very good work. There’s no shame in losing 1-0 to NC Fusion U-23 by way of an 86th-minute goal. Every other opponent they’ve faced has seen them get all three points – but needing an 89th-minute winner against 2-4-0 Tobacco Road FC made them sweat more than they’d like to. |
