About A.C. Connecticut

AC Connecticut joined the USL’s Premier Development League (PDL) for the 2012 season, becoming the only soccer franchise based in Connecticut. Along with a men’s PDL team, AC Connecticut works closely with local travel programs and provides the area’s best regional soccer program involving the best local soccer ambassadors and coaches, using the best facilities and focusing on the technical, tactical, physical and psychosocial components of the game to improve our players.

Players have a distinct pathway, through State teams (U9 – U19) – Regional teams (U12 – U19) – PDL (Men’s AC Connecticut).

Regional Program

Club Structure

edp nycslRegional teams will be formed from U12-U17. Teams will be allocated to a regional league depending on their strength (either the EDP or the NYCSL). Each team will train 3 times a week in the Spring, Winter and Fall. Two of those nights will be on the field with their coach and the third night will be with a fitness trainer working on speed, agility and quickness (U12-U14), strength and conditioning (U15+) and Futsal, which is widely encouraged by the federation.

All fitness and Futsal programs will be conducted at the NYA Sports and Fitness Center and are included in the registration fees. A.C. Connecticut has hired a full time conditioning expert to work with the youth programs and the men’s team.

*Scrimmages are played within the pool of players against guest teams once a month. There will be playing restrictions implemented by our coaching staff to ensure that techniques and tactics worked on in practice are executed in games. The first 30 minutes of this session will be focused on speed, agility and quickness to prepare the young players for the scrimmage.

Beachside Collaboration

AzulBS“A.C. Connecticut is focused on putting players in the correct environment to develop and compete, from top to bottom,” A.C. Connecticut General Manager Robin Schuppert said. “Working with Beachside and local travel clubs, we will provide players a distinct pathway to develop and play at the regional, Academy, Super-20 and PDL level.  Beachside’s BSC CT Academy is one of only two Connecticut clubs playing in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy League, where the best youth soccer in the country is played. It’s where committed players want to be to prepare for college and professional careers.

We will build our club the right way: in cooperation with USYS community based clubs, and including their coaching staff in our program. The vast majority of young players’ first experience with soccer is in their local USYS program, and the quality of that experience is essential for enthusiastic young athletes to choose soccer as their main sport.

We look forward to playing in the Eastern Development Program: it’s leagues offer the highest level of play for boys’ premier soccer in the Northeast.”

A.C. Connecticut and Beachside both believe in attracting, developing and maintaining coaches with the highest level of Integrity, Competency and Commitment to help outstanding players play attractive, skillful and attacking team soccer through a quality over quantity developmental approach.

“This is an exciting development for both organizations,” Beachside Soccer Club President Mickey Kydes said. “The A.C. Connecticut organization, along with the PDL franchise, will be a great program that will enable us to support the young talent in the Northwest of the state and at the same time offer a path to PDL play for our older players.”

Beachside Soccer Club will send staff to A.C. Connecticut Juniors tryouts in early June. A.C. Connecticut’s best regional players will be able to advance to the Academy level. A.C. Connecticut will track Beachside’s top Academy and Super 20 players so they can progress to the highest level of soccer during and after their college careers.
